Before restoration, the building was structurally stable but had fallen victim to insensitive interventions that disfigured its architectural identity and stripped it of much of its original spirit. The historic yellow stone was painted white, covered with plaster and cement, concealing its craftsmanship and preventing the walls from breathing. Fireplace holes were sealed, floors cemented, and the original wooden elements—though still present—were largely nonfunctional. While the structure remained sound, its heritage character had been deeply compromised.

What was achieved?

In 2025, incompatible layers were carefully removed to reveal and rehabilitate the original stone using breathable, traditional materials. Fireplace holes were reopened, wooden elements like windows and doors were restored rather than replaced. Floors were tiled with cement heritage tiles and conservation techniques were applied to strengthen the structure while preserving its architectural identity. Today, the house stands restored, reflecting its historical character and serving as a model for responsible heritage rehabilitation.
